“Since his inception, Manning Franks has had a cinematic glint in his eye. He has always loved and cherished the medium of film since he could check-out VHS tapes at his local library. Cut to years later, Franks now works as an Emmy-nominated photojournalist and film critic for WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, N.C. — his hometown.

During his time at WFMY News 2, Franks originated the segment known as “News 2 Reviews” where he currently writes, films, and edits movie reviews as on-air talent in the Piedmont-Triad area. His goal is to make his film reviews both accessible and thought-provoking for a general viewing audience. In addition, he also serves as an MSJ (multi-skilled journalist) where he highlights community-based stories that hope to shine a positive light on the state of North Carolina.

Before joining WFMY News 2, Franks graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Communication. He currently lives in Greensboro with his partner, Kimmie Nauman.”
