Red Broadwell (he/they) writes about film, television, and video games with a focus on different modes of queer and transsexual representation in horror and science-fiction media. He is pursuing an M.A. in Film Studies at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Their bylines include Certified Forgotten and Dread Central, and they're the primary writer for Queer For Fear Festival's blog.

They presented their research on filmic representations of using digital media as a mode of early gender transition at NYU’s February 2024 Holding the Gaze Conference.

Red's passions include browsing the Internet Archive for countless hours, starting (but never finishing) JRPGs, film soundtracks with 90s nu metal, and staring lovingly into their cat's eyes.
