
Andrew Johnson is a teacher and writer whose work has appeared in a variety of outlets, including Movie Mezzanine, Film School Rejects, The Porch, the Post and Courier, Mountain XPress, and the Winston-Salem Journal, among others. After earning a Master of Arts in Journalism from Syracuse University, Johnson launched the podcast network Film Geek Radio, which developed programming focused on niche film- and television-related topics.
During this period, Johnson served as an inaugural member of the North Carolina Film Critics Association and later as a member of its Governing Board, where he also helped design the organization’s initial website. In addition to his work in film criticism and media, Johnson has worked as an English teacher in Rockingham County and supervised his school’s Film Club, sharing his knowledge and passion for film with a new generation of students.
In 2026, Johnson was named to Emeritus status by the NCFCA.
