The Grand Budapest Hotel wins Best Narrative Film from the
North Carolina Film Critics Association
Birdman and Boyhood Both Earn Multiple Wins
The North Carolina Film Critics Association recognized the Best in Cinema for the third year with 14 films earning multiple nominations. Three films rose to the top this year, and split categories. The Grand Budapest Hotel carried two wins including Best Narrative Film and Original Screenplay (Wes Anderson); Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) brought in three honors with Best Actor (Michael Keaton), Supporting Actor (Edward Norton) and the Tarheel Award (Zach Galifanikas), recognizing a talent or production with North Carolina connections. Boyhood was selected for Best Director (Richard Linklater) and Supporting Actress (Patricia Arquette). Best Actress went to Essie Davis for her performance in The Babadook.
Life Itself won for Best Documentary; The Lego Movie earned a win for Best Animation, and Force Majeure was the Best Foreign Language Film.
NCFCA members actively engage in cinematic evaluation and critical analysis.
